Meet Jennifer Schleuter, a practicing hypnotist and writer from Germany who worked in Los Angeles for 2.5 years as the managing editor of 22 newspapers. She quit her career to become a full-time, digital nomad hypnotist who specializes in helping other DNs overcome emotional, physical, and money blocks through hypnotherapy.
WHY & WHEN DID YOU BECOME A DIGITAL NOMAD?
My career in LA was a good one that I enjoyed a lot. My bosses were amazing and allowed me a lot of creative freedom. My only concern was that I only had five days of paid leave a year. This was limiting as I’ve been a traveler all my life.
The decision to quit my career, though, didn’t happen overnight. It so happened that I went to a hypnosis session one day. The therapist helped me understand what was holding me back in life and how to overcome the emotional blocks that have kept me trapped since my childhood. The next morning, I woke up filled with a newfound sense of liberation and freedom. ‘Wow!’ I thought. ‘I feel great. I am going to quit my job and travel the world. I don’t know how, but I will do it.’
That’s exactly what I did. I quit my job, enrolled for a hypnosis course, and started practicing hypnosis while traveling the world.
WHAT BENEFITS DID HYPNOSIS BRING TO YOU PERSONALLY?
Hypnosis helped me overcome some emotional struggles I have been carrying with me since childhood. Growing up, I had a lot of issues since my mom and dad separated.
I also realized that my mindset about some things in life was what was causing problems in my current life. Through hypnosis, I managed to change a lot about my money, success, and relationship mindset. By letting go of the many ‘blocks’ holding me back, I was able to change my life around for the better.
WHAT WORK DO YOU DO?
I’m a practicing digital nomad hypnotist who helps people from around the world with problems such as eating less candy, working out more, and/or clearing blocks.
WHAT ARE THE BENEFITS OF HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis can help you work through emotional, physical, or any other types of blocks, or, help you find them. Some people don’t even realize they have blocks. Example: A close relative might have commented on how ‘fat’ your cheeks is when you were 4-years old, and until today, you are struggling with your weight. Or, a parent always told you they are poor and don’t have money to pay for what you wanted, and until today, you are struggling to keep head above water.
Hypnosis can assist you in identify these blocks, and then help you overcome them.
WHAT IS THE SUCCESS RATE OF HYPNOSIS?
Hypnosis has a considerable success rate; often unknown about by the general public. People are healed with hypnosis 93% of the time, while with behavioral therapy, 72% find relief. Furthermore, only 35% are healed with the help of psychoanalysis.
The success rate of hypnosis is so high because, during hypnosis, you access your subconscious mind. Our subconscious mind can help us obtain wisdom from deep within that we never thought we had.
WHY ARE MORE PEOPLE NOT MAKING USE OF HYPNOSIS IF IT IS SO SUCCESSFUL?
Hypnosis is often portrayed in a peculiar way that makes people uncomfortable. Especially in and by the media. There is stage hypnosis on one side, where people go up on stage and act weird. Which does work, and it is true to some extent, but it only works because those people know what they are getting into. If you say to yourself, “No, this will not happen to me,” then it won’t. Hypnosis only works if you want it to.
On the other sides, there is hypnosis, as shown in some movies, such as ‘Get Out.’ Hypnotists are shown using objects such as a spoon or pendulum. But that is not at all what we do as hypnotists.
WHAT DO HYPNOTISTS THEN ACTUALLY DO?
As a hypnotist, we help you relax your body and mind so that you can access your subconscious. From there, we can reframe what is going on in your subconscious mind since it is there where all your memories, behaviors, and values are stored. That is why hypnosis is so powerful. Regular therapy only treats the conscious, not the subconscious.
DO HYPNOTISTS HAVE CONTROL OVER SOMEONE ELSE’S MIND?
No. If this were possible, your bank data with password and information would have been used long ago. This is not the case. Hypnotists don’t have these ‘superpowers.’
WHAT IS ONE OF THE CONCERNS THAT COMES UP MOST OFTEN BY THOSE INTERESTED IN HYPNOSIS?
Some people are afraid of what might come up, and they think they won’t be able to handle it. This is not true. Your subconscious mind only gives you what you will be able to process and deal with. Nothing more.
At the end of the day, your brain wants you to do well. This is the natural state of the brain. It desires wellness. So, you will get the lesson you need to help you reframe or overcome what has been holding you back for so long. You don’t need to worry about what will come up as you will have the ability to handle it. Furthermore, the hypnotist is there to assist you and walk you through anything.
WHAT ENTAILS A DIGITAL NOMAD ONLINE HYPNOSIS SESSIONS?
There is not really any difference in how an online hypnosis session is conducted compared to an in-person one. The only difference is that the hypnotist isn’t in the same room as you. An online session can be done either via a video or audio call.
A video call is sometimes needed when an age or past life regression sessions is requested online since the therapist has to see the client, and a conversation will be taking place.
For changing habits, such as eating less sugar or working out more, I usually create recordings for my clients. For some people, it works by listening only once, while others have to use it a couple of times. Therefore, a recording works best.
ON AVERAGE, HOW MANY SESSIONS ARE NEEDED?
It varies from person to person. If a client needs to find, release, reframe, and let go of a block; then one to two sessions are required per block, sometimes more. That is the beauty of hypnosis; most conventional therapies treat on a surface level, while hypnosis goes deeper to the actual root cause; in most cases almost immediately.
Fun Fact: One of the most exciting aspects of hypnosis is that when you find out how to fix one thing, you become curious about finding and fixing all the others.
THE UNEXPECTED CAUSE OF BLOCKS
In 90% of my cases, clients find the situation (block) that comes up during hypnosis to be something they would never have expected. That just shows you that conventional therapy that only goes as deep as the conscious level can’t access the deep subconscious layers where most of us have many blocks buried – often originating in our early childhood. It’s important to know that many of the blocks and barriers we experience in life come from events that happened that we don’t remember at all or that we think have no association.
Example: You might think that something that happened to you in 4th grade did not affect you, but when you use hypnosis, you might find that it did. Our subconscious mind remembers everything. From what our old childhood home looked like, to the watch on our nightstand when we were two years old, to what was happening around us when we were in our mother’s womb.
WHAT IS HYPNOSIS GOOD FOR?
- Emotional & Personal Blocks
- Money Fears / Blocks
- Self-Worth Issues
- Overcoming Bad Habits
- Interest in Past Life Regression
WOULD YOU SAY OUR PAST LIFE CAN INFLUENCE OUR CURRENT LIFE?
For some people, yes. Past-life researchers have now proved that some of us can remember a past life, especially if we died abruptly or violently. Some people and children will have pain in a specific area for years with no medical explanation for it. But as soon as they do a past life regression and find out the pain is related to their previous life, the pain disappears.
WHAT ABOUT KARMIC DEATHS?
Souls come back to Earth to learn (karmic) lessons. Let’s say you were a woman in a previous life who cheated on your husband with other men; then you might come back to a new life as a man where you are cheated on by various women.
WHAT ABOUT PAST LIFE REGRESSION FOR CHILDREN THAT ARE EXPERIENCING BLOCKS – IS IT SAFE?
Since most children already live in a subconscious state during the first 5, 7 or up to 8 years of their life, (that means they are in alpha, theta and delta brain wave states), they are still very receptive to what happened in their past life. (Or, they might have memories of who they were in a previous life.)
Many parents make a mistake to believe it’s the child’s imagination. The fact is that some children can actually still remember a past life, or some are even able to see what we term ‘angels’ or ‘spirits’ around them. In various studies, some children even speak a different or ancient language that is more than 2,000 years old.
So yes, you can regress children back to a past life if you believe it will be of benefit to the child or if they are experiencing adverse emotional issues or physical pain.
Let’s say your child is experiencing sleeping problems and keeps telling you it is because he/she is afraid to die again as they did in a previous life, or, they have an unexplainable pain somewhere in the body that was due to the way they died in a previous life; then hypnosis can help.
