DIGITAL NOMAD

A Digital Nomads is a person who has no specific place of residence but lives a modern, nomadic lifestyle by travelling and working at the same time.  Digial Nomads make use of modern technology such as the internet, software and a PC to either/or manage their business (often mostly online), sell a service or product (digital or physical) to a global audience and clientele anywhere in the world.

FREELANCER

A freelancer (often also known as independent contractor) is a self-employed individual who does freelance work, either on a part- or full-time basis. Freelancers can work independently by finding their own clients, and/or use marketplace platforms such as Upwork, and/or list their services with  company or agency that resells the freelancers skills to clients.

FDN

The acronym FDN stands for Freelance Digital Nomad, though, it refers to anyone who is or aspire to be a freelancer, digital nomad, remote or location independent startup owner, side hustler or entrepreneur. Collectively, they are known as FDNs.

location independent

A location independent worker / employee / contractor refers to an individual who is employed outside of a traditional office, and works location independently by making use of technology such as the Internet.

remote worker

A remote worker refers to an individual who is employed outside of a traditional office, and works location independently. Someone who is employed remotely (a Remote Worker) does not work from a designated office, but can work from anywhere they wish, such as their home, coffee shop, cowork space, or any location of their choice. Sometimes though, a remote worker might be called into the office (if the company they work for is located close enough).
