BRANSON DOES IT! > A NEW DAWN IN SPACE TRAVEL BRANSON BEATS MUSK & BEZOS TO IT! IN SPACECRAFT UNITY2 - SPACE TRAVEL - SPACE TOURISM
FDN SPACE >
As the sun starts to rise, casting its yellow, orange, and red tentacles across the Jornada del Muerto desert basin, a man on a bicycle makes his way to Spaceport America. The first purpose-built commercial spaceport in the world. It lies 72-kilometres north of Las Cruces (New Mexico) and spreads approximately 6,992-hectares (27-square miles) across into the desert. An out of this world sight to behold.
When Sir Richard Branson pulls up into Spaceport, his fellow crew-members greets and whisks him away to get suited up for perhaps the most historical moment of his life. The first-ever, fully-crewed spaceflight by a private company. Beating Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos to it.
In one of the most awe-inspiring moments pre-flight, Branson and the team sign the Astronaut Logbook.
“The name’s Branson. Sir Richard Branson. Astronaut zero-zero-one. License to thrill,” says Branson.
“Astronaut 002. Beth Moses,” says Moses. Followed by Colin Bennett (Astronaut 003), and Shirisha Bandla (Astronaut 004), the third Indian woman to fly into space.

TAKE TO THE SKIES
VIDEO: WATCH THE UNITY GO TO SPACE
The spaceflight system, comprising of mothership Eve, (named for Branson’s mother), and spaceship, Unity, is towed out onto the runway, taking flight moments later. Spaceship Unity was named by the late, Steven Hawking as he said it would be the spaceship that would unite the world. Watch the rest of events unfold in the video above.
Well done Virgin Galactic Team!
